Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, which will offer citizens a digital health ID that would
hold their medical information. The launch of the virtual Care ID is done in conjunction with the third anniversary of the Ayushman
Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which is being celebrated by the Public Healthcare Authority (NHA) (AB PM-JAY).
Beyond one lakh additional Health IDs have been issued as part of the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM)- first introduced on a trial
basis on August 15th in 6 provinces and territories.
What you should know about digital health ID?
Before you can sign up for this benefit, there are certain things you should keep in mind about the digital health policy. We have
highlighted some of these here:
1.A Health ID
A distinctive 14-digit health reference number for each person that will also serve as their healthcare record - is one of the major
elements of PM-DHM. The public Healthcare ID will serve as a central storehouse for all of a user's health-related data. With citizens'
approval, the healthcare ID will grant permission to the interchange of continuous health information.
2.Complete records
Every testing, every illness, the physicians seen, the drugs taken, and the prognosis will be detailed in this health record. This
knowledge will be extremely important because it is functional and easy to retrieve, even when the patient arrives in a different location
and sees a new physician.
3.Linked to Aadhar
A person's basic information and mobile phone number or Aadhaar number are used to construct a Health ID. A software device, a Medical
Providers Record (HPR), and Health Service Directories can all be used to link and see personal health information (HFR).
4.No extra cost
Health ID is provided free of charge and on a voluntary basis under the NDHM. Health research methodology, according to the government,
will contribute to improvement strategy, financing, and execution for governments and health programs, which should result in significant cost savings.
Why is this scheme important?
Citizens will be able to access medical facilities with just a few clicks. Based on the underpinnings laid down by the gov't Jan Dhan,
Aadhaar, and Mobile (JAM) pantheon and other digital initiatives, PM-DHM will ensure a consistent digital site by providing a wide range of
information, details, and data centers, while protecting the integrity, secrecy, and confidentiality of health-related personal data using
accessible, open standard, standards-based communications technology.
This objective is to bring openness to the electronic health environment, similar to how the Unified Payments Interface revolutionized
transactions. By using Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Account, the government hopes to improve state
universal care strategic planning, administration, and financing (Health ID).
